Community Guidelines
Our rules for safe, respectful, and friendly conversations.
Last updated: October 22, 2026
1. Core Community Principles
ChatMeOut is built on spontaneous, real-time human connection. Anonymity empowers open conversation and privacy, but it is never a license for unkindness or malice. We ask every participant to uphold four foundational pillars:
Remember the Human
Behind every anonymous handle or avatar is a real person with feelings, perspectives, and vulnerabilities. Treat every stranger with the same empathy and dignity you expect in return.
Protect Anonymity
Never press someone to reveal their real identity, phone number, social media accounts, or exact physical location. True privacy allows everyone to chat freely without fear of exposure.
Strict 18+ Adult Policy (Ages 18–60)
ChatMeOut is strictly intended for individuals aged 18 to 60. Minors are not permitted on our matchmaking queue, Discover feed, public channels, or mini-games under any circumstances, with birth date validation enforced at registration.
Mutual Consent & Safety
All conversations, games, and interactions must remain consensual. When a partner leaves or expresses discomfort, respect their boundaries without hostility or persistent pressure.
Zero-Tolerance Youth & Child Safety Statement
We maintain an uncompromising, zero-tolerance policy against Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (CSAE), grooming, or any attempts to solicit or distribute imagery involving minors. Violations trigger an immediate, permanent device and IP ban, session revocation, and mandatory legal escalation to global law enforcement organizations, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). For more details, consult our Terms of Service.
2. Prohibited Content & Behaviors
To maintain a healthy atmosphere across all chat modes, we enforce strict boundaries against destructive behaviors. The following activities are expressly forbidden on ChatMeOut:
Harassment, Intimidation & Bullying
Targeted insults, repetitive unwanted messaging after a refusal, stalking, blackmail, threats of bodily harm or self-harm encouragement. When someone says 'no' or skips the room, do not pursue them.
Hate Speech & Discriminatory Attacks
Content or slurs promoting violence, dehumanization, hatred, or inferiority based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religious affiliation, caste, sexual orientation, gender identity, or serious disability.
Unsolicited Explicit Imagery & Non-Consensual Media
Sharing non-consensual sexual content, explicit nudity, gore, violence, or unsolicited sexual solicitations across chats, voice notes, profile bios, or avatars. Although ephemeral images auto-expire after 10 minutes, all uploads remain strictly monitored.
Doxxing, Stalking & Privacy Invasions
Posting, threatening to release, or soliciting personal identifiable information (PII) of any individual - such as phone numbers, home addresses, national IDs, passwords, real names, or private social profiles.
Financial Scams, Phishing & Commercial Spam
Promoting cryptocurrency schemes, Ponzi operations, fake cash giveaways, malicious phishing links, external affiliate links, bot flooding, automated marketing, or commercial sales across chat channels.
Illegal Goods, Weapons & Security Exploits
Soliciting or offering illicit narcotics, weapons, stolen credentials, counterfeit items, or attempting to distribute malware, DDoS services, or automated crawler bots that strain platform infrastructure.
3. Feature-Specific Conduct & Etiquette
ChatMeOut offers multiple unique communication channels. Here is how our community standards apply across each platform feature:
1-on-1 Random Matchmaking
- Respect partner filters and preferences. Honest age and gender inputs ensure fair pairings.
- Avoid immediate skip-trolling or rapid connection cycling designed to disrupt matchmaking pools.
- If you do not connect with a partner, simply tap 'Next' or 'Leave' courteously without insulting them.
- Our 5-minute rolling blocklist prevents immediate rematches with recently disconnected partners.
Global Chat (#all Channel)
- The #all channel is a shared public lounge visible to all online users. Treat it like a global town square.
- No ASCII wall art, spamming repetitive messages, or shouting in all-caps to monopolize the feed.
- Do not conduct hostile arguments, flame wars, or personal feuds in the public channel.
- Commercial promotions, referral spam, and Discord/Telegram channel links are prohibited.
WhisperPlanes Asynchronous Notes
- WhisperPlanes travel globally across time zones and remain in the air for up to 7 days.
- Do not throw planes containing phone numbers, explicit solicitations, insults, or harassment.
- Use WhisperPlanes for inspiring thoughts, cultural questions, creative stories, or friendly greetings.
- Replying to a plane should be thoughtful; offensive replies will result in plane privileges being revoked.
Games Hub (Tic-Tac-Toe, Truth or Dare)
- All mini-games are meant to be casual icebreakers between paired conversation partners.
- In Truth or Dare, prompts must respect personal boundaries. Never dare illegal acts, self-harm, or nudity.
- Do not rage-quit repeatedly or stall turn timers intentionally to annoy your opponent.
- Accept that any participant can decline a game prompt or leave the match at any time.
Ephemeral Photos & Voice Notes
- All shared images are compressed and permanently deleted from cloud storage after exactly 10 minutes.
- Auto-deletion is not a shield for non-consensual pornography, graphic violence, or copyrighted theft.
- Microphone recordings and voice notes must adhere to anti-bullying and anti-harassment rules.
- Taking screenshots of private photos or recording other users without mutual consent is unethical.
Discover Feed & Public Profiles
- Maintain respectful profile bios and genuine interest tags. Offensive, explicit, or hateful text is forbidden.
- Profile avatars must remain safe-for-work (SFW). Explicit nudity, gore, or impersonation is strictly prohibited.
- Do not use Discover profiles to solicit money, promote commercial sales, or spam external links.
- Respect users who decline connection requests. Harassing users via repeated outreach will trigger an immediate ban.
4. In-App Reporting & The 3-Strike Rule
We combine real-time reporting tools with human administrative moderation to keep the network clean. Here is how reports are processed and enforced:
How to Report a Violation
You can report any abusive participant directly from within the chat window, user profile modal, or Discover profile card:
- Click the user avatar, message menu, or Discover profile card and select Report User.
- Select the appropriate violation reason: Spam, Inappropriate Content, Harassment, or Other.
- Add optional descriptive context to help moderators review the incident.
- Once submitted, the user is immediately disengaged and sent for moderation review.
The 3-Strike Enforcement Policy
We follow a graded strike framework to deal with infractions fairly:
- Strike 1 (Warning): First verified report results in an account notice and reminder of our community standards.
- Strike 2 (Temporary Suspension): Repeated infractions trigger an automated timeout from matchmaking and public features.
- Strike 3 (Permanent Ban): Reaching 3 verified reports results in an indefinite ban, session revocation, and hashed IP block.
- Severe Violations: CSAM, hate speech, threats, or fraud bypass the strike system and receive immediate permanent bans.
Privacy-First Architecture
Our moderation system is designed from the ground up to respect user privacy. We hash IP addresses using cryptographic SHA-256 before storing rate-limiting metrics, ensuring your plain-text IP address is never stored in plain text. When chats are wiped or accounts deleted, a cascade deletion permanently purges historical records from physical storage for both participants. Learn more in our Privacy Policy.
Appeals & False Report Protection
Filing fraudulent or retaliatory reports against innocent users is a direct violation of these guidelines and can lead to penalties against the reporter. If you believe your account was suspended or banned in error, you may submit an appeal by reaching out through our Contact Support form. Please include your registered email or username for prompt review.
